About the Job
The Release Engineering team is seeking to add a Release Engineer who will be an integral member of our growing Team and will focus on developing and supporting our build and release environments. This individual will work closely with Developers, Engineering Managers, and SQA engineers worldwide to help support and release systems.
This release engineer position will be responsible for helping to move Company into continuous delivery by creating and expanding our build pipeline. The build pipeline is highly automated so that diverse teams can build and release applications without interaction with the release engineering team. As part of this work, you will be responsible for full end-to-end systems development, from choosing and prototyping applications, integrating them into an automated system in a reliable and repeatable fashion, supporting developers as users of the system, maintaining system documentation, backup and disaster recovery. Candidates for this position must be willing to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
Responsibilities:
•engineer new build and release solutions, both in processes and technically
•automate everything, from tool installation to report generation
•maintain and monitor software builds and SDLC adherence
•support globally distributed teams on our build and release systems, including user administration, troubleshooting, and trouble ticket administration through a Jira ticketing system
•drive development and documentation of new and existing process enhancements and guidelines
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
•bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
•3 years of experience in Internet protocols including TCP/IP, DNS and HTTP
•3 years of experience with or on Linux or Unix based OS systems using common UNIX/Linux tools (ssh, tar, sed, grep, awk, vi, emacs, cron, etc…)
•3 years of scripting experience with Python, Perl, shell or other similar languages
•knowledge of software lifecycle
•experience with Maven or Jenkins
•knowledge of SCM systems. Git and/or Perforce preferred
•fluent English
Desired Qualifications
•experience with Atlassian products – Confluence, Jira, and Stash
•experience with SQL, Java/Tomcat
•domain knowledge in the area of Web server (IIS/Apache), proxy server and caching technology strongly desired
•configuration management experience preferred (e.g., puppet, chef, or ansible)
•experience using Nexus or any other artifact management system
•excellent written and verbal communication skills
•strong analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills
•passion to understand, learn and dissect new technologies quickly on your own
•ability to multitask effectively
•highly driven, positive attitude, team player, self-motivated and very flexible
•demonstrated experience working independently with little or no supervision
