As a globalization engineer, you will be a key contributor to ours overall development organization. Our applications provide wireless software, services and handheld devices that keep mobile professionals continuously synchronized with their Microsoft Exchange and Domino Servers and Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes Applications. In this capacity, you will provide engineering support for the design, development and execution of test strategies for the internationalization and localization of our client and server products. The globalization engineer will also play a key engineering role in the day-to-day internationalization, localization and international quality assurance projects.

 

Responsibilities:

• Key member of the globalization team responsible for client applications Work with cross functional and offshore teams to support maintenance of existing i18n functionality and develop new features.
• Review work done by offshore team and mentor them.
• Participate in developing project release schedules.
• Work closely with QA and Product Management in prioritizing bugs.
• Define, set and deliver on development milestones.
• Support IQA engineering on international products test case development and during international QA testing.
• Analyze and resolve product internationalization and localization defects.
• Work closely with Management, Product Marketing, Engineering and QA organizations to provide input and assistance on internationalization and localization issues during product design, implementation, and testing phases.

Job/Skill Requirements:

• BS Computer Science or related technical degree required, Minimum of 5+ year developing end-user client applications in C++; Minimum of 3+ years experience with Win32, Palm, or Symbian platforms.
• Strong working knowledge and understanding of Unicode, MBCS and character encoding standards.
• Knowledge of Java, C/C++, XML, client-server.
• Experience with script languages.
• Experience with identifying architecture and infrastructure requirements to support increasing and evolving internationalization/localization needs.
• Familiarity with build processes.
• Full software development life cycle experience.
• Excellent verbal / written communication and analytical skills and the ability to work well within a diverse, geographically distributed, multicultural environment and with varying levels of management.
• XLIFF, TMX, Catalyst, Trados, and/or other tools.
• Secondary language skills a strong plus

Highly Desirable:

• Experience shipping localized applications for PocketPC, Palm or Symbian.
• Experience with client/server networked apps.
• Experience shipping applications for high volume platforms.
